Today, I met with some colleagues at Kirkridge Retreat Center, located near the Appalachian Trail, in Northeastern Pennsylvania. After our meeting, I visited Kirkridge's labyrinth. This is the view, shot in wide angle, upon entering the clearing in the woods.

the labyrinth inside the Temple of Good Will ....Brazilia, Brazil
"The TGW Nave — Its floor was built in granite and drawn in a spiral, so that the visitor, upon entering the Temple, follows the darkened pathway that winds anti-clockwise, representing Mankind’s difficult journey in search of a point of equilibrium. In the center of the pyramid, exactly beneath the crystal, a round bronze plaque symbolizes the discovery of Light and the beginning of a new journey. The clear colored path however, going clockwise, represents the path illuminated by moral and spiritual values acquired by the Human Beings’ own effort, finishing at the Throne and Altar of God, from whom one receives blessings."

Over the past twelve years Labyrinths have undergone a dramatic revival as a meditation, relaxation and spiritual tool. Beginning in churches in the United States, this renewal now encompasses religious communities of all types, hospitals & health care facilities, spas & retreat centers, schools & universities, public parks, memorials & healing gardens, prisons and even progressive businesses. Labyrinths have appeared in such varied settings as Central Park in New York City, Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore and a downtown square in Zurich, Switzerland.
Beginning with our first Chartres Replica™ labyrinth built in 1995, The Labyrinth Company has been an innovative and inventive force dedicated to promoting the widespread use of this marvelous meditation device.
Now celebrating completion of our 3,000th labyrinth! The Labyrinth Company is the experienced and technically capable labyrinth designer & builder best suited for your labyrinth project. We'll work with you to create just the right labyrinth to fit your space, aesthetic and budget requirements.

November 24th, 2007 - Geneva, Switzerland
This one is to reassure anyone who thinks I've gone a little soft over the last couple of days, what with the forests and the sunsets and so on, that my true love remains and will always remain street photography.
This should be the last archive shot I post for a while. I'll be in Manchester this weekend and I hope will have the opportunity to get out and about and explore the streets on my own for a few hours.
Have a great weekend !

There was no official senior t-shirt, my senior year, so I decided to make one. This maze plays on the actual school layout, which can be very confusing, even for upper classmen. Everyone could admit to getting lost!

"The " Garden of the Heart " was conceived in 1970 on a small area of 2,5 a and is made of yewtrees and boxwood, , representing 12 little hearts with a heart-shaped hedge around. This " secret garden ", according to René Pechère, gives the romantic touch to the enclosure, intended for private meditation and dream ..."
Apparently Alice wanted this garden to be made as a tribute to her husband (who had died 15 years before) and thought of it with the idea of the building becoming a public museum.

René Pechère transformed the Art Deco gardens into a landscape garden (1968-1970), adding this " Labyrinth " or " Dedalus " - it has an itinerary with 1300 yewtrees covering 500 m, where " The Song of Songs " is illustrated by 7 sculp- tures in bronze, made by the Belgian André Willequet."
